Who we are

The Roman Watch is an independent and impartial Catholic think tank that aims to be a resource for its members, with a particular focus on Holy See officials and diplomats serving at the Holy See, government officials with a particular interest in issues of religion and religious diplomacy, and educators, students, civic and religious leaders, and all interested parties, in order to help them better understand the Holy See’s diplomatic approach, the impact of papal diplomacy, and more generally the role of religions in public life.

Founded in 2024, TRW does not take institutional or religious positions. It provides analysis and information on the Vatican and religious events, and offers a Catholic perspective on the international scene.

Manifesto

The Roman Watch is committed to presenting the Catholic perspective on international issues, placing it in context and comparing the Catholic approach to other approaches.

The Roman Watch is committed to being clear in its presentation of facts and analysis, without giving in to any partisanship, maintaining an attitude of epistemological humility in the face of the facts.

The Roman Watch is committed to providing strategic insights and independent analysis, with the aim of helping governments and institutions gain a broader perspective on major international issues, as well as local situations.

The Roman Watch is committed to providing information about the Holy See and religions that helps understand the role of faith in society.

The Roman Watch looks to the principles of the Social Doctrine of the Church as an ideological platform.

The mission

The Roman Watch ‘s mission is carried out with:

  • The establishment of an international network of professors and corresponding experts, with the involvement of other think tanks and academic institutions;
  • The publication of an online magazine updated weekly (and daily in the case of breaking news) and a paper magazine published quarterly
  • Launching special programs to foster interest and develop knowledge in the next generation of foreign policy leaders
  • TRW ‘s core topics , enabling correspondents to produce articles, reports, and books analyzing foreign policy issues, papal diplomacy, and religious information.
